Milio ("we," "our," or "us") is a mileage tracking application operated by Aldero ("Aldero"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Milio mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using Milio, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and profile photo associated with that account.

Location Data

Milio collects precise GPS location data to detect and record your driving trips. This includes:

• GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude) during trips
• Speed and altitude readings from your device
• Trip start and end locations, routes, and distances

Location data is collected in the background while the auto-detect feature is enabled, even when the app is not in the foreground. You can disable background location tracking at any time in the app settings.

Trip & Vehicle Data

Information you provide about your trips (category, purpose, notes, parking/toll costs) and vehicles (make, model, year, odometer readings).

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics such as feature usage, app version, device type, and crash reports to improve the Service.

How We Use Your Information

• Trip recording & mileage tracking — Detecting, recording, and displaying your driving trips
• Tax deduction calculations — Calculating IRS-compliant mileage deductions based on trip categories
• Reports — Generating PDF and CSV mileage reports for tax purposes
• Cloud backup — Securely backing up your data so you don't lose it if you change devices
• Notifications — Sending trip summaries, classify reminders, and tax deadline alerts (configurable)
• Service improvement — Analyzing usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs

Data Storage & Security

Milio uses a local-first architecture. Your trip data is stored primarily on your device. If you enable cloud backup, data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and stored in AWS infrastructure (DynamoDB, S3) in the United States.

We use industry-standard security measures including JWT-based authentication, encrypted storage for sensitive tokens, and access controls to protect your data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. We may share data with:

• Service providers — AWS (hosting), Google Maps (map tiles and geocoding), Firebase (push notifications). These providers process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.
• Your organization — If you join a team/organization in Milio, your trip data for that organization is visible to your team administrators.
• Legal requirements — If required by law, subpoena, or legal process.

Your Rights & Choices

• Disable location tracking — Turn off auto-detect in Settings or revoke location permission in your device settings.
• Delete your data — You can delete individual trips or your entire account. Contact us at support@milio.run for full account deletion.
• Export your data — Export all your trip data as CSV or PDF at any time from the app.
• Notification preferences — Configure which notifications you receive in Settings.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Trip data is kept to support multi-year tax records (the IRS recommends keeping mileage logs for at least 3 years). If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law.

Children's Privacy

Milio is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
